Landscape shot. Personaly my best shot of the day. when i seen this view i new i had to take a photograph. this photograph was edited using lightroom. I only croped and changed the sepia slightly to give that tone and shaddow.

This shot is one of my favourite shots of the day. I went on a trip with uni and had a great time with my group. This photograph has lots of colours and is surreal. I was taking pictures all day looking through the view finder and thought to try different composition.

Ragamuffins (Lead singer)

This is the lead singer of a band called Ragamuffins. This shot i think is great because it is high key and has lot of detail. on the day of this shoot i was nervous because i was thinking everything i have been tought by john and andrew need to be used. i had to think about the systems and processes unit and see what lighting sooted the band. I got told about this opportunity in the digital darkroom when i was with katy. A lad who was organising the band asked and the class if there was a student who could photograph the band. I looked round and other students looked surprised. I couldn't refuse not to.


Original 


I Gave three disks to the band. the 1st disk was the original photographs. The second disk was my edited version, i edited the photographs by just cropping and changing the exposure slightly. i felt when editing my photographs that they might not like my way of photography and thought about doing photographs they would like and then editing them in my own style. The Edited photograph at the start of this page is my style i feel and i think the editing works very well with this shot. I thought about making a 3rd disk with my style of editing and i feel my way looked a lot better.

This is the first edit i done and not much change witch i feel the band wanted.


 
This is the 2nd edit and this on my screen doesn't look that good but i think it looks alot more interesting than the one above.



Objects -Macro (Cricket)


This is my macro photograph. I shot this at home using my canon 40d with a standerd 50mm lens and had a macro extention. I dont think the macro extention isnt that good because it doesnt give you the full focus i was after and i thing next time i photograph in macro i will use a macro lens.

More photographers that influence me

Abbas

I first started to look at Abbas when i seen photographs of Mohammed Ali. I bought a Dvd called Muhammad Ali the Legend and it made me think about who it was that taken Muhammad Alis photographs. i done some research and found they's images. Abbas is a great photographer because i feel captures moments in time not many photographers can achieve.

Slow shutter and fast shutter speeds.

This is a example of a slow shutter speed i found on the internet.





Shutter
The shutter is what determines the duration the sensor is exposed to the light. Changing the aperture on the camera opens and closes the lens.

Photographers i have been looking at.

Gavin Parry is another photographer i have been looking at lately only because my personal management teacher (Katy Sugett) told me about him. I c`n relate to this photographer because i feel that the work i do is similar or if not similar then work i like and want to become better at.

I have always been fascinated and interested in a laundrettes because of how old they look. I am thinking on doing a project my self and photographing different laundrettes in the area. I think that would be a good project to do. 



I think this photograph is such a good portrait.
it has a feel to it i cant explain. i like the way the composition is and how old the room is to go with how old the man is.




What i like about this photographer is all the colour in the photograph and the oldness to.
I think what makes this photograph work is the busyness and the person in the centre of the image. 








Raghu Rai.


Raghu Rai is a indian photographer and i am new to his work but because i am interested in photojournalism i feel that Raghu Rai has some powerful images imaginable. This thing i like about this photographer is how attached he is to his work. I think being a photojournalist you have to put you personal life and your photography side to different sides and when taking powerful and disturbing photographs you need to because i think it could do you some damage.

Work by Raghu Rai


What i find so good about Raghu Rai's work is the detail and again the composition. I admire him for taking these powerful images and showing us what goes on and what has gone on in are world.

Resources

I seen this camera in the streets of Barcelona and wanted it ever since.
I thought it would be a good idea to put this type of post on my blogger so i can keep coming back to it.

This is a beautiful little jewel of a mechanical camera with just the right amount of automation. The Nikon FM3A can function perfectly without batteries, mechanically timing shutter speeds right out to its maximum of 1/4000th of a second, and its all-metal body is engineered to last a lifetime.
What makes the FM3A better than the handful of other high-grade mostly-manual 35mm SLRs still in production is that it taps into the extremely popular Nikon autofocus lens system. Thus you can indulge your Luddite tendencies while still being able to purchase the most modern lens designs at mass-market prices.

More resources i like to have are Pod casts. I think they are great for me as a photographer. Pod casts give you information by showing you slide shows of work, from movies to slide shots up to photographers getting interviewed. They show lots of different types of photographers like my favourite photographers Stuart Franklin, Martin Parr, Michael Wolf, Abbas and lots more. Podcasts have given me lots of ideas and inspiration.

High key lighting research

key lighting is the first and usually most important light that a photographercinematographer, or other scene composer will use in a lighting setup. The purpose of the key light is to highlight the form and dimension of the subject. The key light is not a rigid requirement; omitting the key light can result in a silhouette effect. Many key lights may be placed in a scene to illuminate a moving subject at opportune moments.

Photographic images can vary in overall brightness, which is used to support the underlying emotion of the scene. High-key lighting means an overall brighter picture, while low-keylighting means an overall darker picture. Mid-key lighting falls in the middle, yielding average brightness. 

The dramatic content of the scene dictates its brightness. Generally, you will find that high-key lighting is favored for upbeat scenes, and low-key lighting is the choice for slow or taut dramatic action.
Although high-key and low-key refer to a picture's overall brightness, parts of the frame can be illuminated differently to affect attention or composition. For example, parts of a low-key image can be brightened to facilitate perception, while parts of a high-key image can be darkened to create a more interesting composition.

Studio photography unit 1 Systems & Processes lighting techniques

Using a pineapple i used a technique called 45%45.
All of the shots for 45%45% lighting were shot on the same settings but at different light modifiers, angles and composition.

Using 45%45% lighting i used a honeycomb at a 45-45 degree angle.
At that angle it gives a shadow to the right side of the subject. In this case it was a pineapple.

I found photographing in high key lighting wasn't that good because you dont get much detail. Personally photographing an object like this one, i much prefer  low key because it shows more detail and gives off a warmer colour.
